هذه التوزيعة تتضمن أدوات مهمة منها الخاص بعمليات إصلاح الأعطال والمشاكل
التي قد تنشأ في بعض تقسيمات القرص الصلب خصوصاً في ظل وجود بيانات مهمة
يخشى من فقدانها على الأقسام الأخرى.
هذه التوزيعة ذات الأغراض الخاصة, تستخدم في تقسيم القرص الصلب وإجراء
بعض عمليات الصيانة, وتوفر عدد من البرامج الضرورية لإتمام مثل هذه المهام كـ
GParted وهي أحد توزيعات على سبيل المثال, ورغم هذا العدد من البرامج إلا أن
حجمها لا يتجاوز 80 ميجابايت, وهي تعمل بمجرد الإقلاع دون الحاجة للتثبيت وبواجهة
رسومية, هذا بالإضافة لدعمها عدد من نظم الملفات وعلى رأسها
Ext4, Ext3, linux-swap, FAT32, NTFS .

The Parted Magic OS employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful programs (e.g. Clonezilla, Partimage, TestDisk, Truecrypt, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, ddrescue, etc...) and an excellent set of ation to benefit the user. An extensive collection of file system tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs. Parted Magic requires at least a i586 processor and 256MB of RAM to operate or 128MB in "Live" mode.
